We have an option in life…let others lead us, or lead ourselves.
I was a follower when I first started volunteering. Mainly because I had no understanding of my surroundings or the path I was set to take on, but standing on your own two feet has a powerful message…Belief in your own actions!
I stand here, well I’m sitting here, typing this and I’ve stood on my two feet. I didn’t always, but I now do.
I learned that to have the power to lead by example, you need to know your inner demons. You need to understand what’s holding you back and use them to your advantage.
You need to stand up for what you believe in and stay by it. Volunteering has taught me this. The knowledge was already there, but by giving my time to the community, I was able to unlock my potential.
A potential that’s allowing me to stand on my own two feet and to turn every idea into a voice. The voice that’s giving others an opening to creating their future pathways.
Volunteering was much more, well still is much more than just a hobby, it’s my life. I know the power it has on my life and on others and thanks to giving my time in the first place, I was able to identify what I needed to do to stand on my own two feet.
That was breaking down every barrier, and turning the unknown into the unimaginable.
Don’t hold back this year. If you want to turn an ordinary life into the extraordinary, volunteering is a guide to helping you accomplish it.
