Creative Photography

If you were asked what creative photography was, what would your answer be? In all honesty, if there is a meaning to this, I’d love to know.

I love putting words together that make sense, and if I were to define ‘creative photography’ it would be the story behind the pictures.

There’s a stereotype in blogging, that many pictures involve marble flat-lays, white backgrounds, and yes, this is seen a lot in the blogging world, but that’s not creative photography. Not to me anyway.

When people ask me why I only read personal blogs, and it’s down to the content. I want to get to know the person behind the blog, and it’s the same engagement I have with photography.

I want to see someone’s emotions in the pictures. I want to see the creativity behind it. I want to feel like I’m part of that person’s experience. Photography is a strong attribute to drawing in others to your blog, and what if one picture told a story.

It told the story written in the blog post in a way it was like a 3D movie; like you’re actually feeling what they’re feeling and you feel like you’re in the same room.

What does the main image in this post tell you? Is there a story behind it? What if the birds flying were bloggers who felt part of the community and those just floating around were of those who felt excluded?

Making people think about what the photo’s purpose is, starts with you. You don’t need to be a professional photographer to take creative photos. Creative photos are created by a creative mind.

Many of my pictures are taken by my uncle. He’s not a professional photographer and hadn’t any experience before helping me out. But because he saw something different, pictures were created. Even when I had plans for the content, he’d say what he saw. He’d be creative by using his mind.

It doesn’t matter if you have a DSLR or you use your phone camera, creative photography starts within.

It starts with the story you’re experiencing, and putting those stories into pictures.

Here’s a few pictures, new and old, that to me tell a story. I’ve added a caption with each sharing how I feel seeing each picture, but what would you caption each?
