I’m constantly learning new things every day in the blogging world, more about myself in every interaction and how ‘YOU’ are the most important part of developing your blog’s niche.
Notice how I said develop rather than create?
When we first start blogging, we believe we know what we want our content to focus on; mine was volunteering. I had a clear mind-set knowing volunteering was what I wanted to discuss, but over time, things change. I changed. My wants and needs changed. My mind-set change.
This is why I don’t think we can CREATE a niche, but develop one.
If I asked you right now what a niche was, what would your answer be? Many would answer beauty, lifestyle or any other one word relating to blogging.
I want to tell you (in my own opinion of course), that that’s not your niche. That’s the group you associate your blog with. Your niche is YOU!
We don’t create…we develop ourselves!
We develop ourselves in a way that every interaction, blog post uploaded or read, image taken or created and every minute put into running a blog has significance. It has significance in identifying who we are, the road we’re taking with the blog, and the niche we’re surrounding our blog within.
Niche’s and individuality is the one thing I always talk about in chats, and when asked who my role model is or how I describe the blog, I say ‘ME’. Me, me, me!
Who creates my blog’s content? Me! Who decides what chats I participate in? Me! Who takes on the role of deciding who I collaborate with? Me! Even ‘Community Chooses Week’…who decided to run the project and to decide on the 4 topics for everyone to choose from? Me!
Your niche is YOU AND ONLY YOU!
How can you develop ‘YOU’? You learn. You try things out and you learn what works and what doesn’t. It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced blogger or a newcomer to the scene, we’re always learning.
This is why I love blogging. I’m learning more and more about myself every day and learning what I want to do next with the blog and with my life.
I’m using my mind and my actions to develop my niche and whether I continue down the same path or not in the coming weeks or months, who knows.
The one thing I do know is that my niche is my journey. It’s my thoughts. It’s my cheeky personality that’s grabbing people’s attention in chats and enlightening people’s minds to the fact that we have control of our blogs.
Until we remember that the blog is OUR STORY, we’ll continue down the route of associating our niche with a particular group rather than ‘US’, but maybe this is part of developing it?
Only we know the journey to developing our niche, but the one thing I say is remember who you are, why you blog and where you want to go?
Then, people will notice your niche, just as well as you do.
